A Wonderful Introduction To O'Connor And The Short Story

This shining collection of short stories is not only an excellent introduction to a neglected master, Frank O'Connor, but it also dramatically illustrates that the short story should be tuned to the human voice, not literary fireworks.
This is a great read aloud collection and my wife and I took turns reading these to one another through a long car trek. My favorite was the title story, perfectly pitched and wholly creditable.
This collection makes me want to find "My Father's Son" and maybe his biography of Michael Collins, "Big Fellow". Read this collection, preferably before a fire, at night, aloud, to someone else, and you won't be disappointed.
The only reason this collection didn't get five stars is because it was a little too Irish for my Irish-American sensibility. Not O'Connor's fault.

Frank O Connor is just a genius. His stories need to be read by everybody. I don't think this collection includes his most famous work, First Confession, but the title story is also quite famous. Each story is there to be enjoyed and appreciated.

I just want to make the point that it does contain O'Connor's great and justly famous story "My First Confession". The whole book is a complete and utter joy, a kaleidoscope of characters, and tour-de-force of the storyteller's art. Inasmuch as anybody doesn't get it, it's a negative reflection on their literary percipience.

Excellent for tourists or beginners

I lived in Slovakia for two years, during which I had to pick up the language mostly by myself. When I discovered this book partway into the second year I was delighted. It is excellent for any English speaker, easy to understand and very to follow. The only drawback is for missionaries and diplomats - those who are MOVING to the country. By the time you get to the chapters on grocery shopping and going to the post office you might have died of starvation! Skip to these right away and don't be afraid to take the book with you into stores. Have a good time!

When I was in Slovakia this summer, I really wanted to learn Slovak language. Thus "Slovak for you" was the first handbook I found in a bookstore. The content of it is satisfying for me. The book includes many dialogues taken from usual life in Slovakia. It has also wide comments on grammatical topics. Of course, there are books which focus mainly on it. But the book by Bohmerova is good enough for every beginner - speaker of English (not only as a mother tongue).

May just be the best estimating book out there

Really good book, gives a lot of great and concise information without going into too much unnecessary details. The worked out, step-by-step examples are great. Really easy to wrap your head around the information this book is giving you, no other estimating book is quite as good as this one, highly recommend it.

Good Overall Summary of Cost Estimating

This book was introduction and overall view of estimating construction projects. I work in facilities management working on various construction projects, and this book definitely helped getting some realistic budget numbers to my superiors. I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn about estimating.

Last year, I asked a friend who told me he was drop shipping for help. He pointed me to a website/company where you purchased product from them. However, all the items were soooooo overpriced that I saw no way to actually make money. So, I quit before even getting started.

A month later, another friend had gotten into drop shipping. I didn't know how he was doing it, but as we hung out on a movie set one day (we were extras), his phone was cha-chinging left and right with sales. I saw the items he was selling. They were over-priced (though not as over-priced as what was on the other site I tried). I also saw the items from where he was ordering them from to fill the order. Since he was a friend and I actually saw he was making a profit on these items, I asked him to teach me.

It cost almost nothing to start. $20 was all I spent. That, and my time...which was 15 hours a week.

I started the day after he taught me all he knew and made a profit my first month. By my third month, I was making $1500/mo. That income saved me from being homeless.

Today, I make a full time income on it and have taught many people. But, it takes sooooo long to teach people one at a time. So, I decided to just put it all in a book.

Everything is covered. It's a short read. You can literally get started selling today!

Almost the only way to fail at this is to just not to the work....most of which is just copy and pasting. There's very little thinking involved at all. Even someone that isn't computer savvy can do this!
