Sus ideas independentistas influyeron en destacados lideres de la Emancipacion como Simon Bolivar y Bernardo O'Higgins. Su nombre esta grabado en el Arco del Triunfo en Paris. Su retrato forma parte de la Galeria de los Personajes en el Palacio de Versalles; su estatua se encuentra frente a la del General Kellerman en el Campo de Valmy, Francia. / He was a Venezuelan general, regarded as a forerunner for the South American emancipation of the Spanish Empire. He was the creator of the idea of Colombia as a nation. He participated in three wars for democracy: Independence of the United States, the French Revolution, in which he was a prominent player, and for that was awarded the title Hero of the Revolution. His ideas influenced prominent separatist leaders as Simon Bolivar and Bernardo O'Higgins. His name is engraved on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. It was a great surprise reading about the life and trips of Francisco de Miranda. I really recommend the reading of this interesting noveled biography based on his own diaries.

Un Don Quijote de la Independencia Americana

Biografía de Sebastián Francisco de Miranda Rodríguez (1750-1816) el más internacional de los americanos de su época, precursor de la independencia de las colonias españolas y padre de la idea de una Gran Colombia que aglutinara todos los virreinatos y capitanías en una gran república latinoamericana, personaje inquieto por naturaleza, bibliófilo y lector compulsivo hombre que combatió como ninguno en su tiempo en tres continentes: Africa, Europa y América, contra el sultán de Marruecos, contra los ingleses en la Guerra de Independencia de los Estados Unidos de Norteamerica, defendiendo la Revolución Francesa y en los comienzos de las Guerras de Independencia de Hispanoamerica, conocedor en su gran periplo por el mundo a personajes tan disímiles como fueron: George Washington, Lafayette, Catalina la Grande, Napoléon Bonaparta, Federico II de Prusia, Simón Bolivar y O'Higgins entre otros, peleó bajo distintas banderas y estandartes pero siempre defendiendo un ideal, un ideal que para cuando se materializó sintió en carne propia lo que sientes la mayoría de los idealistas de corazón, la indiferencia de muchos, la incomprensión de unos pocos y la traición de los más allegados a la causa cuando más se les necesita.
Una magnífica biografía más narrada que dialogada que nos muestra al Miranda más humano, un hombre lleno de virtudes y defectos, un soñador mujeriego, aventurero y culto a la vez, un hombre a la altura de Europa pero no de su América contemporánea, más ignorante y pacata, nada lista para una sublevación espontánea y una independencia voluntaria.
